When we set out to restore our ancestral estate in Criș, Transylvania, it was never just about architecture or about building a business. What Is SLH and why does it matter?

Small Luxury Hotels of the World™ is a curated collection of over 600 independently owned hotels in more than 90 countries, each one selected for its character, charm and commitment to personalised luxury. Membership is by invitation only and follows a rigorous vetting process. SLH looks for properties that are not just visually striking, but authentic in experience, rooted in place and passionate about sustainability and local culture.

We are proud to represent Romania as the first destination to be included in the SLH family. Preserving history, writing a new story

Our story begins in the quiet village of Criș, where time seems to move a little more gently. The Bethlen family has been part of this region’s history for centuries, and today we continue that legacy, not through nostalgia, but by embracing a slower, more intentional way of living and sharing that mindset and experience with our guests. The estate has been brought back to life with the help of local craftsmen using traditional building techniques. Every restored Saxon building blends heritage with comfort, character with sophistication.
